The Purpose of the Virginia Tech Bed Bug and Urban Pest Information Center


1. To provide face-to-face bed bug and urban pest consultation, education, and technical training to the general public, professional industries, and pest management professionals


2. To conduct research evaluating the efficacy and cost effectiveness of pest management products, prevention methods, and integrated pest management strategies


3. To provide consulting services and customized Integrated Pest Management Systems (IPMS) for bed bugs and other insect pests to Virginia housing and commercial facilities


4. To provide hands-on technical training to pest management professionals and other pesticide applicators with regard to the implementation of IPM, including effective application, pesticide safety, environmental protection and regulatory compliance


5. To share our research findings about bed bug product and IPM strategy evaluations through outreach and education programs, this website, and printed literature


The Virginia Tech Bed Bug and Urban Pest Information Center is non-profit, no cost service hosted by the Urban Pest Management Laboratory in the Department of Entomology at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.
